Hi there folks,

I need a series of formulas that is going to take a variable date in A1 (20/09/1981 for example) and break this into 3 cells B1 "20",C1 "09" and D1 "1981"...now here's the tricky part, these need to be represented as text NOT numeric so that values such as "01" or "02" can be displayed!

Has anyone got any ideas?

Andy

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK

Hi,

Like this:

=TEXT(DAY(A1),"00")
=TEXT(MONTH(A1),"00")
=TEXT(YEAR(A1),"0000")

Hope it helps,

Dom
