Hi

Does anyone know why I cannot create messagebox in VBA, it seems like I might miss a Library.... Whatever I try to code it ends up With a text in red...

Sub basic_messagebox()
Answer = MsgBox("Do you wish to be terminated ?", vbYesNo)
End Sub

Best regards
Espen

you need to dim Answer as string

Code:
Sub basic_messagebox()
Dim answer As String
answer = MsgBox("Do you wish to be terminated ?", vbYesNo)
End Sub

Actually, answer should be set as VbMsgBoxResult...

Code:
Sub basic_messagebox()
Dim answer As VbMsgBoxResult
answer = MsgBox("Do you wish to be terminated?", vbQuestion + vbYesNo)
End Sub

That is not true and the msgbox in the example (vbyes or vbno) is actually returning numerical values of 6 or 7.

What probably is true is that you have something like "Option Explicit" in your module and you haven't defined/dimensioned Answer at all. What it should be defined as is an integer. Ie

dim Answer as integer
