Please help.

I have a spreadsheet that just has a simple total formula in the bottom line.
However for some reason the formula doesnt put a value in the cell instead it appears to be blank.
You can see the formula in the formula bar but nothing appears in the cell.
(i have checked tools -options-calculation) and also that the text colour is not the same as the background colour).
If i try copying the formula left, even though the cells referenced in the formula change the total will come out as the first column.

I hope i have explianed things properly.
I would be grateful of any suggestions on this matter please.

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).

Another check would be to select the cell then
Format|Conditional Formatting... to see if any Conditional Formatting might be causing the problem.

It could be that the Auto calculate is switched off. Try pressing F9 when you have copied the formula. If this works you can swich the auto calculate back on in;
Tools
Options
Calculations (a tab at the top)

Good afternoon sbowen666

From the offending cell, press Ctrl + 1 to open the Format Cells box, go to the number tab and see what the format is set to. For example ;;; set as a custom formula will hide the result in the cell - other custom formats can interfere in the way formula results are displayed.
