Charting Percent Complete

I am trying to chart percent complete on a bar graph where the fill of the bar grows as the percentage gets higher. In other words if a red bar on the chart represents 1000 items and I have 500 of them complete (represented by blue), the the bar would be half red and half blue. If I have 750 items complete, the bar would be 3/4 blue and 1/4 red.

I can't get a stacked bar to show this because it just stacks the 500 items on top of the 1000 items making it appear to the casual observer that there are a total of 1500 items.

Right now I am using a clustered bar or column chart, and just showing two separate bars, one for toal and one for complete. But I would like to show it as all one bar.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
First you need to select a stacked column chart to work with.

Then for 500 out of 1000 - column B should have 500; column C should have 500. For 750 out of 1000 - column B should have 750; column c should have 250

Thanks jberwald,

I was trying to make it too complicated. I had removed the scale from the x-axis and was trying to get everything to plot - total, complete, percent complete.

I took your advice. Then I added the scale back on the x-axis to show total, and added the percent complete as a data series at the top of the bar.
