How to formulate a cell with a color automatically when entering a specific letter?

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Got it....thanks...........now if I want to have another color in the same column with a different test in it, can I do that?

In other words, I have a column that i enter a "Y" and in the same column I could enter a "N". The Y will get a green cell and the N will get a red cell.

Possible???

Yes you can stack conditional formats by using the add function up to three I know for sure but that may be the limit .

Perfect.......got it.

Thanks...........made my night!

Note you can use some other tricks if you need more then three conditional formats, such as using VBA which gives you a logical 53 (I think) but this is cut down a little by duplicates.

Dont think I will need more than 3 for now. When that time comes I will learn the VBA.....whatever that is!

Thanks again,
