Hi guys,

Im having difficulty with a something. I have three columns, first contains names, second contains a code and third contains a number. However, i have several times the same name even if the code and number that go with it are different. Exemple

Name
Code
Mark
Tony
a
62
John
a
70
John
c
68
Stephanie
d
80
Stephanie
c
75
Stephanie
f
82

<tbody>
</tbody>

I want to produce a table where i have every name only once, but i need to find a way to keep the right rows. In my case, i would like to keep code a > b > c > d > ... depending on which exist.

NameCodeMark
Tony
a
62
Johna70
Stephaniec75
<colgroup><col width="80" style="width: 60pt;" span="3"> <tbody> </tbody>

I've already worked with advanced filter before, but nothing this complex .... Need help

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Hi,

First of all, backup your data first, to be safe in case something goes wrong.

Now sort your data by two fields: name first, code next. Mark the sorted area.
Next go to "Data" tab on the ribbon and choose "Remove duplicates". From the menu, choose "Name" as the only column with duplicates.
This will leave only the first row with each name, i.e., by sorting, the one you want.

Best,

J.Ty.
