Conditional Formatting: If A1 equals A2 then A3 needs to fill in Red

Urgent help please! I have a GCSE level of knowledge of excel, and I'm working potenial pay for the employees in a company I work in. Some have their pay changing, some stay the same. I need the ones that stay the same to be marked in red on a separte column. I need a rule the do this, not manually because theres a lot of employees....

Example:
A1 = 6.70 B1 = 6.70 C1 = [red]
A2 = 8.40 B2 = 8.40 C2 = [red]

If it isn't possible, then how can I do it so that:

A1 = 6.70 B1 = 6.70 [red]
A2 = 8.40 B2 = 8.40 [red]

Any help would be greatly appricated!!

Assuming you're using Excel 2007+ here: with C1 selected, go to the Conditional Formatting option on the Home ribbon and select New Rule. Select the last option "Use a formula..." and then in the field below enter the following: =A1=B1

Click the Format button and select your desired shade of red from the Fill tab. Use the fill handle to drag the conditionally formatted cell down as far as you need. You may want to consider an alternative to this approach if your data's going to be used for anything more involved (colour's fine if you just want a quick visual, but if you want to count how many are changing you'd only be able to do so by filtering and seeing how many records match, you couldn't use formulas or pivot tables to do so with this method.)
