Conditional Formatting - Start / End Dates, Shade a block of cells

Hello Excel Gurus,

I am looking for a formula much like the following to shade a block of cells based on start and end dates.
=AND($B8:J8>=$B2,$B8:J8<=$B3)
that formula doesnt work though as I do not know how to properly use a range of dates.

grateful for your help. Let me know if you have any questions.

Excel Facts

Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
