Hi all,

Can someone please clear this one for me?

I need to connect to 2 Excel tables using PowerPivot. My question is whether the 2 Excel tables need to have the same number and same type of columns (headers)? Will the connection be successful if I have a common header in both tables even if the remaining columns differ in their contents?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
You should be able to accomplish this using the Merge functionality of Power Query (formerly Data Explorer). Alternatively, you could use PowerPivot to create a relation between the tables using their keys, then pull in each of the columns from one table into the other using the RELATED function.
