# Count the number of times a certain time period appears

I have this excel sheet with my movies where I add the date when I watch them. Now I want to create some stats of how many movies I have watched in a certain month. Been trying with COUNTIF but don't seem to get it to work, neither wildcards or jokers works and just add every date after the other stopped working after 6 dates. Help please...

### Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.

What did you try exactly and with what data?

The data is simple dates "2014-08-01", "2014-08-28" etc. I tried these: ("ANTAL.OM" is the Swedish equivalent of "COUNTIF")

=ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-01")+ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-02")+ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-03")+ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-04")+ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-05")+ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-06")
That returned 6 which is correct, but I can't add more dates to the formula, the result turns into a date if I do that (1900-01-07).

=ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-??")
That returned 0

==ANTAL.OM(Ägda!I2:O696;"2014-08-*")
That returned 0 as well.

I manually counted the August numbers and it should be 31.

In Excel 2007 and above:

=COUNTIFS(Ägda!I2:O696,">="&"2014-08-01"+0,Ägda!I2:O696,"<="&"2014-08-31"+0)

Doesn't work here. Get error and then "O696,"" is highlighted.

I got it to work now, it was the differences between English and Swedish versions of Excel. We use semicolon when you use comma for instance. So the correct formula for me is:

=ANTAL.OMF(Ägda!I2:O696;">="&"2014-08-01"+0;Ägda!I2:O696;"<="&"2014-08-31"+0)

But thanks anyway since I could use your formula, just translate it. Just took a while for me to understand that.
