I feel i am making simple mistakes.. but basically i have a table on another sheet and in my working sheet i need to populate the number.

Columns in question are:
A = month
B = province
C = jobs booked dollar value

So i need to tally how many jobs were booked in the month of JAN in the province of BC.

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Depending on your version of Excel, try:

Excel Formula:
=COUNTIFS(Sheet1!A:A,"JAN",Sheet1!B:B,"BC")

If you want the dollar value:

Excel Formula:
=SUMIFS(Sheet1!C:C,Sheet1!A:A,"JAN",Sheet1!B:B,"BC")

thank you for the reply. the dollar value formula is the one i WAS able to figure out ;) but i simply need the count of how many times a dollar value appears in jobs booked. forgive me, but i'm missing something with your first example as there is no reference to the jobs booked column
