Hi all

I have a list of data which is made up of numbers and text for example 10022544_GGHE. The numbers are always followed by a "_" but can vary in length.

Would anyone please able to assist me with a formula to extract the digits before the "_".

I have come up with the following "=MID(G1, FIND("_") but am then stuck as in how to extract everything from the left of the "_"

I could use the text to columns function but am curious as to how the formula would work to extract everything from the left of the "_"

Many thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells

Try LEFT instead of MID
