Database formulas not recalcing

Hi,
I am using database formulas (dmax sitting within an offset formula). My model is set up to manually calculate, the formulas are on hidden rows on a sheet which is protected - I don't think these things would be relevant to my issue but they are worth mentioning.

What I am finding is that when I close the file then re-open it, the calculated values disappear (the result is 0), and to get them to come back I first have to hit F2 and Enter on the bottom of the criteria field, and then hit F2 and Enter on the database formula itself and the correct result comes up.

Is there a reason for this? Can it be rectified? <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->
