I have a pivot table that has an admit date column. Our year starts July 2019 for example and ends June 2020 how would I get those to sort starting with June 2019. I've check that the date format is set in the table and sort the column labels from old to new but it is sorting based on month not year? Thanks

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
I would check that the data in the column as actually a date number and not text. If you change the source data cell format to General I would expect to see 43647 as that is the date number. If it continues to show 'Jul 19' then it is not really a date. You would need to correct it to a date, say '1 Jul 2019' and then set the format to a Date format, perhaps use custom format code "mmm yy".

Another approach is to use PowerPivot and define a calendar within PowerPivot - but while it is pretty straightforward its not easy to describe in a post (at this time of day!) :)
