My spreadsheet has Dates in column C and Tasks in adjacent cells in column D. If the cell in row D is blank, the adjacent date cell in column C should be blank. If a task is entered in a cell in column D, I would like a datestamp(today,s date) to be automatically entered in the adjacent date cell in column C. The date should remain as entered until until the task is deleted or edited. Is this possible, and how is it done.
Thanks to anyone for helping.

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
right-click on the sheet tab for the sheet that will contain this info and select 'view code', then insert the following code:

Code:
Private Sub worksheet_change(ByVal target As Range)
If target.Column <> 4 Then Exit Sub
target.Offset(0, -1).Value = Format(Date, "Short Date")
End Sub

this should get you started. modify to suit your own needs
