I am creating a table that has ridiculous amounts of duplicate date (or data that below to the first group (the example will help make sense). What I want to do is have a drop down ability to hide all the related rows.

ex:

tim.com
tim.com/1
tim.com/12
tim.com/1/2
excel.com
excel.com/1

What I want to do is make my list look like

tim.com \/ 3
excel.com \/ 1

where the number shows how many hidden rows here are.

Thanks for your help,

Tim

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Try using subtotals. What version of Excel are you using?

I am pretty sure it is 2007 and how does the subtotal work? I have seen a few people post about it, but have never actually used it.

It will automatically group rows based on the conditions you specify - meaning it will give you a little plus sign next to the rows which you can click to expand them. It can also show you the total number of rows per "group".

thanks for the tip on subtitle. now how do I use the functions they offer to show what the most used term is in a group. For example:

Tim.com jump
Tim.com/1 jump
tim.com/2 jump
excel.com hi
excel.com/1 hi
excel.com/2 hi

to look like:
tim.com 3 jump
excel.com hi

After you subtotal it, collapse all groups and sort by the column with the subtotals in it.
