Hi,

We have been running an event for students, there have been 6 and there will be a total of 8 of them. The first one had 610 students, then 902, 1358, 1260, 1601, 1457. I can't figure out how to chart the average growth, the growth from event to event and how to project the number of the next event based on the growth of all the previous events.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the board.

To chart the growth from event to event, just use the Chart Wizard. Or, maybe add a formula to calculate the increment each time, and chart that.

Working out the number for the next event is not really an Excel problem, it's a statistical problem. Excel can do the calculation for you, but you yourself need to tell it HOW to do that calculation.
For example, you could take the increment between the last two events (1601-1457=-144) and knock that off the last event, to give 1313.
OR you could take the increment between the first and last events (1457-610=847) and divide the result by the number of increments (5) to give an average increment of 169, then add that to the last event, to give 1,626.
OR any of several other ways.
