I have 3 excel workbooks. I am attempting to link a chart from workbook1 to workbook2 by the paste special method. Workbook2 already has a linked chart in it from workbook3 and works perfectly fine. But when I link a new chart from workbook1 to workbook2 only a blank object appears. The object has the address of the correct chart but the linked chart is not visible. Anyone know a fix?

Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
