Hello,

Does anyone know about excel binary format.

I have a file with many macros in it. I read that the macros may not function properly in Excel binary format. (I read later that this is a myth???)

The file will be shared on many computers: Will it run properly???

I also read that using that format your macros can be protected - (Maybe no access to VBA editor???)

*** And if I save a file as Excel binary can I save it as a macro enabled workbook later???

Thanks for any help/suggestions: and anything I may not have thought about.

Jamie

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
The article in the link states
"Power Query cannot read data from binary XLSB workbooks. Excel shows an odd error after a long delay, if you try to create a Powery Query from a binary workbook"

I don't know what version they were using but a xlsb loads fine for me in 365 and I can't remember having any issue in previous versions

The VBE is the same on a xlsm or an xlsb file, the built in protection options are the same.... weak

Yes, you can save it as any other Excel file type
