Excel crashes upon opening a previously OK file

All of a sudden, Excel began crashing and closing upon opening a previously fine excel file (userform and spreadsheet). It never lets me know what is wrong -- just crashes. I can open the file by using Disable Macros (holding Shift key when opening), and then "run" the file from the VB editor with NO PROBLEMS. I even opened a "recovered" file and "repaired" it, but it said nothing was repaired. Only when I click to open the file using the file name does it crash.

Any thoughts as to what I should check?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
try to copy and paste everything to another workbook, see if you can open that workbook. if not, try to delete your code and user form one by one and test if you can open it, untill you locate the code cause the excel crash.
