Excel crashing when trying to work with grouped sheets

We recently upgraded to Windows 7 and Excel 2010 and every time you group any worksheets and try to highlight a range it crashes excel. This is the case with everyone running Windows 7 that we've checked. I also have Excel 2003 on my machine and that too crashes now and it never did with XP, which leads me to believe it's a Windows 7 issue. Has anyone else encountered this or have any ideas about how to fix it?

Hello and welcome to The Board.
I too have encountered a few problems with Office 2010 (I am using Windows 7). For me, Excel will crash if I try to "Copy as a Picture" a protected Chart Sheet - it works OK if I unprotect it.
I tried to reproduce your problem without success so I suggest that you try to find out if it is one particular sheet that is causing the problem. When you find the sheet, try to work out what is different about it. I would therefore try it with two selected sheets, then three etc. until Excel crashes.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried it in multiple files and it happens every time. Even if I open a new workbook and simply group two blank sheets it happens.

The fact that you can't reproduce it probably means it has something to do with our installation.

You may be right about the installation - I just tried it on my home PC (also Windows 7 and Office 2010) and it does not crash Excel.
Just a thought - are you using the 32-bit version of Office or the 64-bit?
I use the 32-bit Office 2010 on Windows 7 64-bit, both at home and work, as recommended by Microsoft (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/w...-version-of-microsoft-office-HA010369476.aspx) but I do know that a number of people have had problems when using 64-bit Office 2010.
