Excel, hidden sheets, passwords and data security?

Hello MrExcel

I have a rather large file with multiple sheets.

Some of these sheets contain salaries. Can i lock / hide these sheets in a way, where you cannot see the data in them,while still referencing them in other sheets with formulas?

If you just hide them in VBA you can still reference the sheet and thus obtain data.

The problem is that the people viewing these sheets also have to be able to alter some of them, which i guess means they will always be able to extract data from the hidden sheets if they know the sheet name?

You can set a sheet XLVERYHIDDEN so its not right click viewable from the Tabs, and if you password protect the VBA you can basically hide it. JUst don't loose your passwords > How to Hide Sheets using xlVeryHidden |
