Hi

I have an issue regarding Excel’s “INDIRECT” function. Actually, I know how to use this function.

My problem is every time I open a workbook including INDIRECT function and then close it, Excel asks if I would like to save changes, while I didn’t make any (I don’t even change a cell, just open the file and immediately close it).

This situation happens on my PC but this not happens on my laptop.

Please note that I don’t use any macro or VBA code in my file.

I’m using Windows 10, Office 2019 on both computers.

Thank you very much.

If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
I would expect you to be asked to save as Indirect is a volatile function.
It maybe that you have calculation set to manual on your laptop.

Thank you very much Fluff,
But no. Calculation is set to Auto on both computers.

In that case I'm surprised you don't get asked to save on both.

In what way is it a problem?

In what way is it a problem?
Why Excel asks to save an untouched file in one computer and don't ask to save on other?
I tested that when I remove INDIRECT function from the file, this wont happens (both computers don't ask to save file).
So it's definitely about INDIRECT.

As I said, indirect is volatile, so I would expect to be asked to save the file, unless calculation is on manual.

As I said before, calculation is set to Auto on both computers and Excel ask to save file only in one computer.
