Hello, I've been having an issue where excel completely seizes up. It doesn't respond to either the mouse or keyboard commands. I can only close using task manager. As part of the process, the cursor changes shapes to something like this little double arrow

or occasionally a hand or other shapes...but either way, I can't do anything at all. Any ideas?

You could try re-starting your pc & see if this resolves but if not, application may need repairing.
try following instructions here:Repair an Office application
