Excel "#VALUE" help

I need help getting a spreadsheet funtion correct? I keep getting the #VALUE in the cell. I have an IF funtion in a column that gives a cell value if the argument is true and a space eg. " " if the argument is false. The #value is displayed in a different cell that is referring to the false argument.
