External Data Connections Formatting

Hi- I am creating external data connections to multiple excel files within my server. When I bring this data over in a table format some of the data comes over as numbers and some as text. I need all the data to be formatted as numbers so I can run formulas off these tables. I can't even re-format the data once i have refreshed.

Any idea on how I do this?
