Trying to create external links between 2 workbooks. A range of cells in workbook A, to the same range in workbook B. I've entered the path; '[A.xlsx]PO DATA'!Transaction, "Transaction" is the name of the cells A4:A999. I have also tried using the exact reference of each cell, but when I press enter, the result is not referencing the cell/s in workbook A, only results with the text of the path?
Clearly I'm missing something, please help.

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Did you use
Excel Formula:
='[A.xlsx]PO DATA'!transaction
?

So Yes, you inserted also "=" to start the formula.

Check if the cell is formatted as text; if Yes then format it "General", then press F2 and Enter to reenter the formula

Yes, I entered it as; ='[2022_Invoice B2C.xlsx]PO DATA'!transaction and the format is text, so set to general, and reentered, it always comes back as; '='[2022_Invoice B2C.xlsx]PO DATA'!transaction, with the the apostrophe before the equal sign?
