Anyone have a way to detect if an Excel File is in use (via VBA) without actually attempting to open it? I am manipulating an Excel File from Outlook, but I only want to open it from Outlook if the file is NOT in use... suggestions?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
The only way I can think is to have the workbook in question stick a value in another workbook when it opens. You could then check the value in this other workbook before trying to open the first one.
