Hello everyone,

I am new here and found this board while searching for an answer to my problem. I did not find the answer, but it looks like this is the right board to ask. So, here it goes.

I am trying to create a macro for the fist time. I am using the record function in excel to do this, but cannot get past the first step. It doesnt matter what I try, I get the error "that name is not valid" I have tried all sorts of macro names and get this error every time. Whats the problem?

Thanks!

nope, no macros. I also tried some totally random names to make sure i was not duplicating a cell name. I know, its totally crazy.

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Try clicking Tools / Macro / Macros, type the desired name into the Macro name box and click Create. Do you get the same result?

I think i have located the problem. It is my computer or office installation. I tried it on my laptop with another workbook without a problem, so i guess i am missing a module or something on my desktop installation. I will reinstall or try it on my laptop and report back. Thanks!!
