Hello, I have a formula to average a range of cells (ex. =AVERAGE(E2:AG2)) but some of the cells in that range do not have any data and just have a dash "-" to represent that it's not left unintentionally blank, but that we just don't have a data point for that cell. This is done across 300+rows

In some situations, ALL of the cells in the range have the dash "-" and the formula returns a #DIV/0

Is there a different formula that can be used across all rows to avoid this error, or can we use something instead of the dash "-" to represent we don't have data? We do not want to use a zero as that would skew other things

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Maybe:
=IFERROR(AVERAGE(E2:AG2),"No Data")
