You apply a custom number format... See the Excel Help topic for "Create a custom number format".

Pink,

I'm on lunch here so I'll go through this. Highlight the cell(s), go to Format/Cells/click the numbers tab. Click Custom and in the Type window, enter [h]:mm, click OK

Right!

Create a custom number format

1. Select the cells you want to format.

2. On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab.

3. In the Category list, click a category, and then click a built-in format that resembles the one you want.

4. In the Category list, click Custom.

5. In the Type box, edit the number format codes to create the format you want.

You're not butting in... just want to make sure that a "newie" discovers the knowledge contained in Excel's Help system. :)

In fact this help entry even has a "Show me" link...

need to change the dates in several cells at one time (about 20 cells) that already have the above formula. all other info stays static except the date; needs to be changed automagically to Dec 9-13, 2002.xls.

suggestions?

Thanks!
