Anyone ever had a problem with cell formulas mutating spontaneously when a workbook is copied ??

George, that would be a case of "user error." That would not happen if no one purposely changed the formula or VBA code manipulated the spreadsheet. Copying files doesn't change "formulas" in spreadsheets.

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
I would agree, however, for two experienced users to make the same error on different work stations seems very unlikely.

George,

this has had me intrigued for a couple of nights now.... hence my request to actually see the workbook...

(*memo to myself to actually GET a life...*)

can I ask that if you ever track down what was causing it, to post back to this board with what was wrong ?

cheers

Thanks for your interest. We have not been able to either duplicate it or find the cause. The only possibility we can think of is a power variation during copy or save to the network. Why that would cause a mutation of formulas in random cells is beyond me.
