Frequency Duplicates Count

Dear all,
thanks for your support.
I need to have the count (1,2,3..)of a colum with duplicates. I have just sorted the value as below:
A
A
A
B
C
C
D
E
E
and I need to have the following result:

A 1
A 2
A 3
B 1
C 1
C 2
D 1
E 1
E 2
any hints?

Hi and welcome to the board.

If your list starts in cell A1 try this formula in B1 and drag down
=COUNTIF($A$1:A1,A1)


​It will count everything above the current row when dragged down.
