I have received, on occasion, excel files that are primarily just gags and fun.
I'm sure folk here have seen them.

One had an if clause, but was preceded by the 'plus' sign. I have tried to find information on this concatenation, but to no avail.

=+IF(A$2="Love",E$2&IU$2,"") I understand pretty much how it works, I'm trying to work out the purpose of the + sign.

also, is there any source out there for these excel gags? I can probably create my own, but was wondering if any were on the internet somewhere .. perhaps here even.
thanks

The + sign is just a throwback to olden days. I'm not sure, but I think it had soemthing to do with making Excel and Lotus123 compatible. Apart from that, it serves no useful purpose. For a source, check here from the Lounge

Thanks for the llink.
some might involve greater ability than I have.
I would like to learn more on the programming necessary...
also, the + sign seemed to be necessary for the particular formula to work in this particular gag.
I had another one a long time ago which I have lost sadly.
