Hidden text showing up in pdf from Excel file

I am trying to print an Excel worksheet to pdf. When I look at the pdf, there is what looks to be some cut off text--almost like a period or dot--that isn't visible in the Excel document. How do I find this text/image/or whatever it might be in Excel and delete it? I have used the Selection Pane feature, but that doesn't help me find this hidden thing (for lack of a better word).
