How do I create and register an XLL

Ok, I know how to create a DLL. What do I need to do to that DLL in order to make Excel recognize it as a valid XLL / Add-in? How do I register it so that the functions are available inside Excel?

I'm using Excel 2007 and Windows XP / Vista
