I have a few excel files that will not run while in the same excel program. How do I get each file to open in its own seperate excel program?

Cheers

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.

Put this code before your open code, it will start a new session window with Excel in it.

Sub myStart()

ReturnValue = Shell("c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\EXCEL.EXE", 1)
AppActivate ReturnValue
End Sub

Thanks I'll try that. Is there a way to right click on a file and change the properties of it to open in a seperate excel.exe?

The old versions had startup switches that could be used but MS has gotten away from building them in, some time ago!

I have not come accross a way other than by code!

If all you want to do is start up a separate independent instance of XL, no need for VBA. Just double-click the (or select from the Start menu) the XL program.

That said, you may want to examine why these files cannot co-exist in the same instance of XL. There are very -- very -- few instances where one needs a separate instance of XL for each file.
