I have a row of data and I need to locate the last cell in the row that has data in it by cell number.

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
try the following code

Code:
Sub test()
Range("A1").select
Do While Not IsEmpty(ActiveCell)
ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Select
Loop
End Sub

How about (searching column A; change to suit):

Code:
Sub foo()
  MsgBox "Last Row is cell: " & Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Address
End Sub

Or natively:

Edit-->Goto-->Special-->Last Cell.

Hope that helps,
