How does remove duplicates work?

Hi Everyone,
A bit of a different one,
I just want to know how remove duplicates decides which duplicates to remove?

Lets say I have 5 duplicates so rows 1 to 5.
if I remove duplicates does it remove 1 to 4 and leave 5? 2 to 5 and leave 1? or is it random of some other rule?

first position of duplicates will stay the rest will be removed

A	1​
A	2​
A	3​
B	1​
B	2​
C	1​
C	2​
C	3​
C	4​

select range
choose remove duplicates
un-check B column (second)
