Hi,

I would like convert a report that is in word document format into excel. The purpose of this is so that I can add an extra column in excel that I can input my own comments next to each bullet point.

This report is hard to convert to excel as there is no easy "identifier" to split it into cells. There are numbered bullet points in this document "1., 2., 177.,", I would like to convert it into excel so that there are 3 columns in total - a numbered bullet point cell, a cell for everything that comes after this bullet point, and then a comments column.

Is there a way to achieve this? Or any other suggestions on how I can convert this report?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Have you looked at 'Text to Columns' under the Data tab?

I just did a quick check and if you paste the bulleted text to the excel sheet, then use 'fixed Width', Excel will place the first column break correctly. But if there are some long texts behind a bullet, scroll to the longest and then double click each of the following breaks to delete them, until there is only the first left. Then press 'Finish' and you have done it.
