Good afternoon Guys and Gals,

After some help with a formula to count specific cells starting with a particular three letters.

In example:

IF B3 Starts with EXP***** Count.

Thanks in advance!

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.

Hi Dan,

Try the following formula, updating the bold red part to suit where the data ends:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(LEFT(B3:B100,3)="EXP"))

Or alternatively:

=COUNTIF(B3:B100,"EXP*")

Just a note: the COUNTIF() option will probably be more efficient processing wise than the SUMPRODUCT() option.
