a1= 7:00 b1=00:30:00 only if d1 is populated c1 needs to show a1-b1 d1=any number
but if d1 is blank then c1 will show 7:00

i'm going round in circles missing the obvious i get error if d1 is blank

=If(D1="",A1,A1-B1)
