# IF formula too many arguments

=IF(A4<>"",IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=6,A4+12),IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=7,A4+11),IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)>6,A4+10),"")

I'm getting "You've entered too many arguments for this function."

I'm trying to get this formula to say:

IF A4 is not blank then:
Check to see if A4+10 days is a Saturday, if it is then add 2 days,
If A4+10 is a Sunday then add 1 day,
If A+10 is a weekday then A4+10 days,
Otherwise leave it blank.

I'm sure its simple but cant figure out what is wrong.

### Excel Facts

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a \$25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Try
=IF(A4<>"",IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=6,A4+12,IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=7,A4+11,IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)>6,A4+10,""))))

Thanks!!

This worked:

=IF(A4<>"",IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=6,A4+12,IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=7,A4+11,IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)>6,A4+10,""))),"")

Last edited:
=if(a4="","",if(weekday(a4+10,2)=6,a4+12,if(weekday(a4+10,2)=7,a4+11,if(weekday(a4+10,2)>6,a4+10)

Glad you sorted it & thanks for the feedback

This should work too:

=IF(A4="","",CHOOSE(WEEKDAY(A4+10),1,0,0,0,0,0,2)+A4+10)

So should this:

=IF(A4="","",WORKDAY(A4+9,1))

Hello Alphacsulb

I assumed the rest of Fluff’s formula is correct. If this is true, then all I did was to change the first ‘IF’. Will this work for you?
=IF(A4="","",IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=6,A4+12,IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)=7,A4+11,IF(WEEKDAY(A4+10,2)>6,A4+10,""))))
