IF then and AND statements

I cannot figure out how to write an IF statement.

IF 9,000 or less = 0, IF 9001 - 11999 = 3, IF 12000 - 14,999 = 4, IF 15000 or greater = 5

Please help I've been trying different things for almost 2 hours and I'm confusing myself now!

maybe something like...

=IF(A2<=9000,0,IF(A2<=11999,3,IF(A2<=14999,4,5)))
