Hello master gurus. I have a question for everyone.

I have an Excel spreadsheet with a list of 2000 friends from a site I like. in each row, I have facts about each friend. One of these facts is how long the friend has been a member of the site.

The problem is: After I enter how long the friend has been a member of the site, the number does not increase every day.

Example: Carl friend for 167

I want to see the 167 increase by 1 every day.

This way, every time I look at my excel spread sheet, I see exactly how long Carl has been a friend at the site.

Hope I explained it correctly.

Thanks for your support & suggestions.

Ok, I tried the formulas. The =TODAY ()-A1 works. However, it changes the A1 cell information in the process.

Here is an example:

Before formula

a:1 shows 1 (as in 1 day the friend has been on site)

Add Formula

a:1 1 b:1 =Today ()-A1

Result

A1 shows 1/1/1900 B1 shows 8/9/2010

So Concerns are:

1.) How can I keep Column A showing the days my friends have been members of the site, instead of dates dating back to 1900.

2.) Will the B Column cell numbers increase every day I open my excel spread sheet? I am thinking their has to be some code based on my computers clock to keep the B1 cells updating.

Also, if anyone is interested, I can email a sample copy of my spreadsheet, so someone can see whats going on.

Thanks for all the support!

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
The formulas given will update every time you open the file on a different day. The reason it changed A1 to 1/1/1900 was because it thought that cell must be a date and changed the formatting. Dates in Excel are stored as the number of days since the start of the 20th century, hence 1 is 1/1/1900. Just change the formatting back to a number.
