Insert 'pound' sign in forum response

When I copy/pasted a suggested macro into a response to another forum member, the macro contained a 'pound' sign but when pasted into the response, it came out as a question mark. Is there a way to have it pasted while keeping the original format?

Thank you for the quick response. Before I posted my question, I actually tried a few times to post the same macro in a response and got the same result, a question mark instead of a pound sign. I just went back to the thread and now the pound sign has replaced the question mark. Very strange!!!

I happened to see the post, so I changed it back to a Pound sign.
It's probably something to do with keyboard/regional settings, but not sure how to get round it.
