I have a single list of tax IDs in a column in Excel. Some are SSN (###-##-####) and some are EIN (##-#######) based on the format. I need a formula to identify as SSN or EIN by the format the number is listed. Help.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
What exactly is in the cells?
