I have created a link from Excel to Access and import my data to Excel from a query.

This all works fine, however when I close down Excel and then try and try and run the query in Access, I get the following message "The Microsoft Office Access database engine cannot open or write to the file "name of query here". It is already opened and exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

I've never had the message before and has only presented itself after making the connection between Excel and Access.

I do not have any other Excel or Access files opened.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Excel and Access don't always play well together. If you link a table as you described, opening Access (for eaxample) will prevent you from using the query in Excel because it locks the database. Ditto opening the Excel file and then trying to do something from Access.

If all you are doing is pulling data in from Access I would recommend *not* linking the two. Instead use the External Data feature from Excel to pull in the data using MS Query. It's easy to refresh the data once the query is set up.
