Linking Excel workbook to Access makes it read only when DB is open

HI all, I wonder if there is a work around for this.

I've linked an sheet from an Excel workbook to an MS Accesss database which is then used in a query. The problem I face is that the Excel file is now read only whenever the DB is open - which it generally will be during a working day and users may need to add data to the Excel sheet.

Does anyone know a work around?

TIA

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
I just tried pulling in an Access database using Power Query and had no problem. If you're not using Power Query, that's the problem.
For excellent YouTube tutorial playlists on Power Query, check here and here. The latter list is particularly good as it provides both start and end workbook samples for every lesson.
