Hello
im in need of a macro that can search a large database and then filter out the names not in the search!

any help is appreciated!

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
I need the macro to search my database on sheet 1 (column d) and find the names from sheet 2(column a). Once found I would like it to filter out all the names which aren't found on sheet 2 leaving me with desired information. I've tried the find function but adding each name one at a time is slow and painful.

Why do you need macro?
In large database using many find/replace will take long.
I think using ‘vlookup’ is simpler and much faster.

Ok very new to excel. Can vlookup search for say 80 unique names? How old I then filter out the names not on my list?

thx for reply

Actually, it’s better if you can give me some info.
From what row number the data (names) begin and until what row number (on both sheeet)?
example: sheet1 d2:d200
sheet2 a2:a100
